A nudge to double-check

After AI gives advice or an estimate, it adds a few questions worth checking at the end.

Good for: People who make decisions based on AI's advice

Read this first: Kicks in on its own, at most once per conversation, and always starts with the same short lead-in line.

What you can do once it's installed

Just say the “You say to AI” line, with your own details swapped in.

When estimating costs

You say to AI

Roughly how much does it cost to have a cat for the first year?

What AI does

  1. 1.Answers your question in full first
  2. 2.Picks out the parts of the answer that rest most on assumptions
  3. 3.Adds 2 or 3 follow-up questions at the end

What you get

An estimate, with a few follow-up questions at the end to help you check the numbers and assumptions.

When making a plan

You say to AI

Make me a three-month training plan to run a half marathon.

What AI does

  1. 1.Gives you a complete training plan
  2. 2.Figures out what the plan assumes about you
  3. 3.Reminds you at the end of the things worth confirming

What you get

A training plan, plus a few questions to make you think about what might be missing.

How to install

Which AI tool do you use?

  1. 1. Open the Terminal app on your computer, paste the line below and press Enter

    npx skills add anthropics/skills@discernment-nudge -g

With no tool name, the command looks for the AI tools on your computer and asks where to install. If it says npx is missing or too old, install the latest Node.js (22 or newer) first.

    First time using the terminal?
    • How to open it: on a Mac, press ⌘ + Space and search “Terminal”. On Windows, search “PowerShell” in the Start menu. In Cursor, Trae or VS Code, use the menu Terminal → New Terminal.
    • Windows says “running scripts is disabled”: change npx at the start of the command to npx.cmd and try again.
    • If a list pops up: move with the arrow keys, press Space to tick the tools you want, then press Enter.
    • How to tell it worked: you'll see a success message. Reopen your AI tool and ask “What Skills do you have now?” to check.

Don't feel like opening a terminal?

Tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Trae can run commands themselves. Send them this:

Please run this command in my terminal and tell me how it went: npx skills add anthropics/skills@discernment-nudge -g
  2. 2. Reopen your AI tool

New Skills only get picked up after a restart.

  3. 3. Just say what you want

Say it the way the examples do. To call it by name, say “Use discernment-nudge to help me…”.
